Dr. Okafor knew from an early age that her purpose in life was to serve, help, and heal others. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree in 2012, Masters of Science degree and license as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017, then went on to receive her second Masters of Science degree and license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree in 2019. She completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2020. Dr. O, as many of her clients call her, has worked in almost every area of healthcare. Dr. O has a passion for caring for her clients to reach remission and maintain their quality of life.
She has spent her life learning about every aspect of the human body to give her patients a “whole body” and “individualized” approach to medicine. Dr. O likes to involve her clients in creating their treatment plans. She enjoys teaching her patients about their bodies and medication. . She treats not only the body but the mind and spirit as well. “I believe in treating you as an individual and not as your diagnosis. I have spent my entire life learning from westernized and cultural approaches to create a plan that is perfect for you. Dr. Shakita Lee
Psychiatrist
I received my MD from Stanford University; subsequently, I completed my General Psychiatry training at the University of New Mexico and my Child and Adolescent training at the University of Miami. These latter two programs were very psychotherapy-focused, particularly psychodynamic and CBT. These programs emphasize that comprehensive psychiatric treatment involves not just medication, but also therapy. I have a special interest in ADHD, child and transitional-age mood and anxiety disorders, as well as disruptive behavior disorders. I have extensive experience working with children and adults in crisis settings, as well as in residential treatment and telepsychiatry settings.
